My Approach

Did you know that 92% of new year’s resolutions fail within six weeks? We all have the ability to get where we want to go, but often struggle with the confidence, focus, motivation or the bandwidth needed to get there. Questions like: where is my life going? What and where should I study? What subjects and skills will help me get my dream career? How do I handle difficult relationships, friendships and situations? Will I ever get a decent night’s sleep? How do I navigate the uncertainty and stress caused by Covid? We live in a world where the opportunities are greater than ever, but the competition and stakes can be too, and that’s intimidating.

That’s where coaching comes in. I don’t use just one modality – my training takes from a brand swathe of psychological and mindfulness techniques to help you achieve and grow, as well as quite being there for you – and challenging you – as you empower yourself to succeed. It’s about supporting clients to be the who they can be and get where they want. Sometimes that’s as simple as a listening ear and talking through an issue; other times we might build a highly detailed plan with contingencies built in.

Some of the areas I work in include peak performance, stress management, exam techniques and revision, interview training, emotional regulation, goal setting and accomplishment, career planning, confidence and assertiveness boosting, time management and organisation, building and maintaining healthy relationships and powerful communication skills, all the competencies that go hand in hand with transitioning from tertiary education into working life.

None of us are born knowing how to handle stress and anxiety, bounce back from a disappointment, manage a revision timetable or have a difficult conversation with a friend, and yet we expect that they should… just do it. As parents and teachers we do the best we can to teach them, but in an ever-more demanding and complex world, an extra helping hand can make all the difference: it’s so much better to have a strong foundation laid before a worry or stress becomes something more serious.

The biggest weapon with goal setting and decision making is clarity: knowing what we want, how to get there and what we need to achieve it. Making lasting change and stepping to the life you want can be scary and stressful, but it’s the most rewarding thing in the world.

Coaching works. Because the change comes from you.
